Welcome to the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany Vocation Ministry! Dear Friends, Welcome to our webpages! If this is your first time visiting us, we warmly welcome you. We see our vocation ministry is a ministry to women. It is a very sacred ministry. We are here to assist you on your journey of discernment. If you are just beginning to consider a call to religious life, you may find some of the vocation tests and questions (below left) helpful. Also, you may want to browse through our newsletters and resources. Realize that considering a call to religious life is a very sacred journey. At first, as you are trying to figure out if God is calling you to become a sister, you realize that there is something going on within you, which you can't necessarily share it with others, because you aren't sure yourself. Gradually, you find yourself asking questions or talking to a few trusted people in your life. As you continue to seek out God's call in your life, you may want to consider making a Day of Discernment or Come and See Retreat. Women find these very helpful, for gathering information about religious life, and for being with other women who are also trying to listen to what God is saying to them. Please feel free to contact me if I can assist you in any way. Peace and All Good, Prayer to Know One's Vocation
O Lord, my loving God, you have made me to know you, to love you, to serve you, and thereby to find and to fulfill myself. I know that you are in all things, and that every path can lead me to you. But of them all, there is one especially by which you want me to come to you. Since I will do what you want of me, I pray you, send your Holy Spirit to me: into my mind, to show me what you want of me; into my heart, to give me the determination to do it, and to do it with all my love, with all my mind, and with all my strength right to the end. |
